Baby on the way!

Yep! Mitch and I are pregnant! We found out end of May, after I came back from my trip to Panama. We were VERY surprised, because we were wanting to wait a little longer to start a family, but we are happy that it's happening now. We found out it's a boy on September 15th and we are thrilled! We've been playing with a lot of names, but I think I have Mitch convinced on Kingston Mitchell. Background story on the name.... Gwen Stefani is my favorite musical artist and her first boy's name is Kingston James McGregor and I LOVE the name Kingston! Crazy, I know!! We are due January 24, 2010 (close to Mitch's birthday!). I just had my baby shower yesterday, so I will post pics of that soon and pics of the nursery when we get it all put together!

My Trip to Panama!

Emily, me, my Abuela Edilma, my Tia Alma,
my Abuelo Ruben and my Tio Ruben

Just got back from my trip to Panama. I was only there for a week, which is NOT enough time to see everything and everyone, but I am thankful for the time I was able to spend with family! It was SO incredibly hot! But it didn't bother me much.

My Grandma Edilma, Emily, Tia Alma, cousin Ana Laura, me,
cousin Popito, my Tia Dahlia and my Tio Ruben in the front

On the last night we had a pizza party! We got 4 amazing pizzas for only $20!! Everything is so cheap!

A typical breakfast: chicharrones, tejadas, and yuca frita! AMAZING!

One last picture with the family before we get on board. A sad day. I am so happy that I got to spend this time with my family that I miss so much! My Tio was absolutely awesome! He got a Dr.'s note from one of our cousins that is a doctor saying that he was sick and couldn't go to work all week (just so he could be our tour guide!). My Tia is so sweet! Always thinking about others first. She opened up her home for us and I am truly thankful! My Grandma is absolutely an angel! She is funny and so full of energy! She gets up at 6 am every morning to make breakfast and to prepare the lunch for a day! It was really hard to say goodbye to her. I love Panama!

The newest member of our Family

We would like to introduce everyone to our new family member, Eisenhower Shadow Neddenriep.  More commonly known as "Ike". The middle name came about because he follows me around EVERYWHERE! He loves his mama! We adopted Ike from the Capital Humane Society (here in Lincoln). He is a 1 yr old Harlequin Great Dane. He was surrendered to the Humane Society because his previous owners were moving and could not have pets at their new place. What a shame for them because Ike is the sweetest dog. He isn't the smallest dog around. He weighs about 100 lbs. and measures about 32" at the shoulders. He is quite underweight for a Great Dane. Mitch and I believe that the shelter fed him just enough to get by. The vet wants him to gain about 20 to 30 lbs! BIG DOG! Mitch and I are amazed that he is such a laid back dog! All he does is sleep! We love it because Mitch and I love to  just lounge around. Unfortunately, Ike is deaf. It's common for Great Danes that are as white as he is to be born deaf. That is certainly not a set-back for him though! We still think he can hear certain pitches because he perks up whenever a big truck drives by or when I scream really loud just to see if he can hear.  He loves being around us and cuddling. Can you imagine Mitch, who is 6'5", me, I'm 5'10" and Ike all in one bed? You better believe it! He keeps our feet warm at night!

Remodel already?

So, I guess you can say Mitch and I watch WAY TOO MUCH HGTV! Or that I make Mitch watch it 24/7.  While watching all those great shows, we see all these awesome bathrooms and look upon them in envy.  We want our bathroom to look that fabulous! So what do we do? We take a week vacation and remodel our upstairs bathroom! Crazy, I know...

We first were just going to replace the toilet. We took it out, cleaned up the area and looked around... that wasn't enough! So then we took out the sink and vanity and just put the new one in its place. Again, not enough... SO  then we take out half the wall!! We demo-ed the plaster on the walls up to 52" and put up concrete board to lay the tile on.  It took FOREVER and it was a very messy job. That little white door there by Mitch is the laundry shoot. Let's just say that I will be cleaning out plaster from our laundry for quite a while! building experience for the both of us!  More pics to come soon!

UPDATE: The tile is up!  Here are some progress pics! Thank the lord for the rental department at Home Depot!
Who knew you could rent a $1500 tile saw for only $61 a day! That definitely made the job a lot easier!

Our house, is a very, very, very fine house!

We did it! We bought our first house!!  We looked at A LOT of houses and found the deal of the century!  It's a two story historic home, built in 1928.  You're probably wondering why such an old house? Mitch and I were looking for a place in midtown (since we work on opposite sides of town) and something with TONS of charm and with updated kitchen/baths/whatever.  And we stumbled upon this jewel! I knew it was fate we found this house because.... my birthday is 11/26/82... Mitch's birthday is 02/6/84 and the address is 2626 ... do you see the pattern? LOVE IT!!
Pics of the inside coming soon...
